Home Decorating Ideas On A Low Budget – Greetings. So this update hit me hard to finally hit the home front. I’ve been painting and installing trim and doors for about 6 weeks and I think I’ll probably finish that next week. But this time, before I start the updates, I wanted to take a minute to recap some of the best decorating ideas on a budget that I’ve come across in the past 2 years.
But like anything, I got better with time. One of the questions that comes to readers’ minds about decorating is how to do it on a budget.
Home Decorating Ideas On A Low Budget
So, I’ve narrowed the list down to the top 50 and included some topics and ideas that haven’t appeared on the blog before, just for fun. Consider this the last big ailment and a little weakness before my 1970s house renovation.
How To Decorate On A Budget: Easy Budget Home Decorating Ideas
I mean, a building from the 1970s is still standing…a huge rock wall built right in the middle. But, you know what I mean… we’re making progress.
1. I get asked all the time how I keep lizards to a minimum. Another way is to use trays to organize small spaces. For example, this week I found a small silver tray at the thrift store for at least $1 and made a little coffee station to hold sugar, spoons, etc. It’s not rocket science, but it works and it’s cute.
2. Use Vine searches in a variety of ways. I found this vintage champagne bucket for under $10 and used it as a planter. I have also seen them used to hold wooden utensils on the kitchen counter.
3. Is off-center lighting driving you crazy? Well, I have a lot in this house, I’m not going to hire an electrician to move everything, I’m just using a chain and a hook to hang it up. You can find specially designed hooks in the lighting section of your local hardware store.

Update: For those of you waiting (after only 8 months) for my living room to be finished, here it is. I’m sorry I’m a snail.
Many of you are working on this project using silver shackles or basic construction… I love it when you take something I’ve done and make it better.
7. Buy some thrift store art and recreate it by spray painting the frame, painting the rug white and adding some leeks.
Look at the before photo, I promise you will never look at art stores the same way again.

8. Search Craigslist and thrift stores for a small desk to use as a desk. I found this table for $50, painted it black and applied a polyurethane top coat. It was a blogging headquarters from day one.
I just packed up the office this week and it feels different. New look, new paint, new carpet, new light fixtures, different wall art. Of course, the table was the only thing left intact. I will show you soon.
9. Make your own head. Because those things are expensive. I made mine with a piece of blue felt, foam on top, a piece of fabric (used as a dresser) and some silver ribbon. All in all, I think it’s worth less than $50.
10. Find some cheap furniture and paint it a dark color. Painting supplies aren’t for everyone, but if you’re on a tight budget, you can do a lot with a few supplies and a little paint. Whether you’re working with your hands, at a thrift store, or buying something off the street, paint can do wonders.

I’m sure I’ve talked about this dresser probably 5,000 times, but it’s so iconic because it’s her first name.
11. Turn an old piano rug into a decorative rug under the bed.
I just used some striped fabric, pillows and nail art and then painted the legs silver.
12. Instead of stuffing all my jewelry into a bag somewhere (because of course…), I have a bunch of bags I’ve collected over the years (they’re usually around $1 or so). ). very small), and I keep my jewelry in it. Vern’s top drawer is devoted to jewelry…all in little bowls.

I was one of those people who skip her decorations but then I introduced paneer and tutti in my life and things went fast.
13. This is similar to number 12, but we will reverse it. I also use small containers to store my jewelry on top of my dressing table.
A plant that sits on my vanity today. I try not to kill the plants by giving them a little sunlight. and water. I forgot to give him water.
14. It leads to vanity. I know you like Vern’s, but the Silver Leaf slide is my favorite. I sit here every day (because it takes me a long time to clean out my rat’s nest), and even though this project almost killed me, it’s one of my favorites of the few things I’ve done. And. Also, the Bag Store dark brown table was originally $15. So it helps.

15. So, I wanted a pillow, and a few years ago I spent a lot of money on pillows.
If you can’t afford a new mattress or remodel your entire home, a $20 pillow can give you hope. I’m not saying it’s healthy, I’m just being honest.
But these things add up and before you know it, you have a closet full of pillows you don’t use and wish you had saved the money and bought a new mattress.
So these days I save my money and make my own pillows. And the best part is, you don’t even have to sew…you can just use fabric glue.

16. We have a lot to say about pillowcases, so let’s keep it short: You can also make your own pillowcase using a basic white fabric, then trace the pattern with a Sharpie.
17. Upholstering display chairs is a great way to save money and I’ve saved over 10 of them since this blog started. This green and white chair is one of my favorite creations because it was in pretty bad shape when I bought it. All you need is a yard of canvas and some leg paint.
You know how long I searched for it and what a disaster it was when I tried to peel it off and stain it. But regardless, I’m very happy with how it went.
Plus, to be honest, the living room looks kind of downstairs, so I appreciate the little things like a decent sized TV stand.

Although I will really miss Mathias (currently in the Navy) helping me with the painting. *tears
19. Alloys. I’m really bad at this, but I’m trying to get it right. And our house looks a lot better now because my metal mixing skills have gotten a little better.
These days, I use chrome and satin nickel, occasionally adding small bits of burnished bronze (like the dresser hardware) and gold (like the mirror tray I photographed).
I always make a lot of money and it’s usually the first place I look when I’m looking for something special. It takes a lot of hard work and you really have to be trained to see what’s out there. But be warned, you can definitely find amazing stuff and pay more than anywhere else. hero.

My rule of thumb is to buy new when necessary: rugs, carpets and bedding. Because of the rest, try to cut it. If you haven’t read any of my shop blogs yet, these two ( here and here ) will get you started.
21. When we first moved into our house, it had a lot of old cabinets. Since we couldn’t afford to replace it, I decided to upgrade what I had and paint it. We painted our kitchen cabinets and the vanities in the two upstairs bathrooms and it had a bigger impact on our house than anything else we’ve ever done.
Since the first tutorial, many of you have asked me how I paint the inside of the cabinets. and all i did was just use
