First I tried to block the heat pump. The ground could not support the fence because of the underground power lines and the remains of the old concrete.

So I need something free to block the view. After spending some time on Pinterest, I came up with the idea of ​​adding a fence board to the back of the bench.

My husband and I came to the conclusion that a full bench would be much simpler than a planter and bench combo.

I got 6 pieces of 2 x 4 x 8 foot pressure treated lumber for the seat and a 6 x 6 x 8 foot post from Home Depot.

We threw our towels on the seats using a hot tub, but I wanted a better way to get our towels.

I saw some DIY posts on Pinterest about planters and buckets, and I thought this could be a good solution.

I got a couple of concrete bags and used some old flower pots we had lying around for the base. After we poured the concrete, I put gravel in an inch to make it look a little nicer.

The logs were made of pressure-treated lumber measuring 4 x 4 x 8 feet. I think it was the perfect size for this. I gave him a towel hook that we had left over from our bathroom work.

Overall, it was really fun to post. The only thing I would do differently would be to use flat carafe pots. Mine (as they were old and used a lot) were crooked. Then it is difficult, because they sit securely on the ground and shake something.

I could have left the chairs red, but for less than $8 and about an hour I got beautiful teal chairs that now match the carpet perfectly.

Two of these pieces fit perfectly around a 6 x 8 foot patio area. I secured them with a heavy duty staple gun and ran an extension cord through the back of the fence board to join them.

I was also able to get them on sale for only $15.63 for two lights! I got them on sale, but even at a fixed price of $12 per set, it’s a lot cheaper than other similar light kits.

I was careful when assembling them as I read reviews that they are quite fragile. But I’m happy to report that I haven’t had a single bulb break or fail – even after throwing it in a few storms here!

I absolutely love how our budget hallway turned out. I have spent every day there recently.

I wanted to stay under $200 for this project and I’m happy to report that it came in well under budget.

Fantastic work!!! You did a great job and it looks amazing, very fun and inviting! You talked about the pillar pots being a little firm and if you were to do it again, you would get new pots. I say: take the pots of the summer fire and throw them in the trees! Maybe drill a drying hole if you don’t want to vacuum after a shower.

Great job with the twist. The only thing I would do to make it even better is to put your 4×4 stakes in a homemade wooden planter box and add some flowers.

Well done! look good! The only thing I think I could do differently would be to use 2 x 4 in the cups instead of the 4 x 4 posts. These weigh a ton and can be tilted because they are not on the ground. With no weight on the posts to put down the lights and the occasional towel, the 2 x 4 was strong enough. But it’s just thought out, and you’ve done an amazing job on a small budget. Does the paint on the plastic seats hold up well? I’ve never used spray paint on plastic and was just wondering if it would hold up. I was thinking of painting some of my large outdoor plastic pots with this paint.
