Small Deck Decorating Ideas On A Budget

Small Deck Decorating Ideas On A Budget – Need some design ideas? See how we’ve expanded the space on our deck to include a sitting area with a fireplace and dining area, and how we’ve designed it to be functional, practical and fun.

Last summer, a good friend and neighbor told me, “We’re not brave. We just don’t spend time on our floors.” Do people like that really exist? The thought honestly never crossed my mind. In the winter, when the weather was nice, we go out on the deck. We do makeup. We eat on the deck. When my husband comes home from work, we sit and have a cold drink. I like to take time out in the yard for the kids to sleep/calm down in the afternoon. In the evening after the kids are in bed, my husband and I turn on the light and we meet a little over a glass of wine. We’ve been known to pull out the big screen and watch movies online! Yes, without a doubt, we’re heroes.

Needless to say, expanding the space on our small floor was important to us. We’ve gone through a lot of changes with furniture since we moved into this house 6 years ago, but I think we’ve finally settled on a way to use this small floor and it gives us what we need here! One day I dream of expanding it, but for now this is fine for us. If you’re looking for a little shout out idea too, I thought it would be fun to give you a tour of our space!

Best Small Outdoor Patio Ideas

We have a walk-in closet so our apartment is a full story on the ground floor. It’s 180 square feet (12 feet by 15 feet) – not as small as most townhouses/duplexes, but still on the small side, especially for a 2,200-square-foot house. When we moved in, I knew I wanted more than just a dining table to have a nice patio, then I put in the grill, which requires some creative time planning. But it worked!

We bought our outdoor unit from Wayfair last summer and got a lot out of it. He handled the situation very well! We always keep it locked when not in use, so it comes in handy. . It doesn’t matter what the furniture is, whether it’s a fancy piece or a simple expensive piece or an armchair, it’s easy to dress up your outerwear! My favorite places for cheap outdoor pillows are actually Walmart and the big box stores. I picked up the blue at Walmart last summer and the coral was a two pack from TJ Maxx. I can also buy outerwear and make my own! (I did this on my front porch last summer.)

We added this propane pit last summer and it’s one of our favorites on the line. Not only does it allow us to enjoy our deck on cool evenings last month, but it also means we can enjoy it all summer long! Doubles as a coffee table when the lid is open, saving space.

The outdoor rug was another great store, and I love how it takes up space. We had a large carpet here that went around almost the entire floor, but the carpet was so soft that it took a day or two to dry, leaving almost the entire floor unusable after a rain. I love having a small rug – it really breaks down, defines and underpins the seating area. Surprisingly, it actually makes the floor feel better. Plus, if we want to dine online after our afternoon shower, we can do that.

Small Deck Ideas To Maximize Your Outdoor Living Space

The dining table was just added last summer and I love it! The design is simple and elegant, but the best part is that it expands! It has a central sheet that can be pulled out and seats can be added on both sides to accommodate 8 people. But if it is only a family of 5 people, we can push it a little. We have quite a few items in stock, so I found some similar patterns (including some that extend like ours) and I’m linking them to you below. The couch and chair are from Target.

Window rail boxes have seen better days, but I still love to fill them every year! My husband did it for me 7 or 8 years ago (when we lived in the city – with a small apartment), and they definitely got the weather, but I like the simple box look of the windows above. The train. They add a nice color that doesn’t take a lot of time to plant.

Another space-saving idea is to install a bicycle rack. I’m not a big fan of shouting in the middle of the table (it always seems to get in the way!) so it wasn’t an option for us. We had a cabin above our seat, but the base took up a lot of space, and we couldn’t raise it whenever there was little wind. I found the answer with this superhero skull! It’s tied to the web so we can put it anywhere on the web we want. Rebuilding is also quite easy.

While I’m changing your floor for you, I thought I’d give you a look at what’s under our stairs. Since our site is steep and there isn’t enough room to move around, we rely on our humor below the deck. Of course, that means I spend a lot of time here pushing the kids until they learn the water pump. But it’s really nice in the shade in the summer, so we bought Adirondack chairs and put together a small bench. It’s a great place to chat with other moms while reading a book or playing with the kids.

Our apartment is a space that has changed every spring and summer since we moved in, but I think this is the first year I’ve really enjoyed it. In fact, after buying an outdoor rug last month and laying it out, I turned to my husband and said, “I think it’s done.” (It took him a minute to answer because I thought he was a little surprised, haha.) Honestly, I don’t have anything else on my to-do list at this point – it’s pretty cool I think. ! I don’t know about you, but this is an unfamiliar feeling for me (almost every room in the house is on my “wish” list by a mile), so I really enjoyed it during the summer.

We hope you enjoy our Little Summer Travel Guide and a little sketching idea. I come here to spend summer evenings this time as often as possible!
