Studio Apartment Decorating Ideas On A Budget
We’re happy to share some basic knowledge for novice decorators – especially if you’re working with a tight budget. (And who wouldn’t be?)
Small Apartment Ideas That Make The Most Of Your Square Footage
Laurel believes that the key to a good apartment decoration is to start with a master plan, or “big vision”, before buying anything. “Without guidance, you can go around and make a lot of mistakes because you buy things for the wrong reasons,” he says.
Collect fabric scraps, color swatches, and images from the internet (especially Pinterest) and magazines that describe the general look and feel you want to achieve.
Even if you have little or no budget, it should not be an obstacle to create fun and interesting environments. “It just takes a little bit of creativity,” Laurel said. He recommends finding things that are cost-effective in:
Experiment with fun paint on an old chair and cut up an old sweater or jacket to spruce up the chair. “You can stand out as part of the company without investing more than a little money,” Laurel said.

Hang the curtains! Hanging your curtains closer to the ceiling can instantly make a space look a little bigger.
When you start decorating, Laurel’s advice is to start with one room. This eliminates the worry of decorating the whole apartment at once. Patience is a virtue – especially for your wallet.
Laurel also notes that you want an “anchor piece” in a room. “When you’re buying a sofa, use a fabric and a style that’s fairly neutral,” she says. “That way you can change your look more easily with pillows and accents.”
Think of your interiors in this way: Basics for the “big” things, color and bolder things for the small things that can be changed easily.
What Is A Studio Apartment?
No room for a large coffee table? This slim sofa table looks great and fits well behind your sofa. Plenty of space for a small lamp, plants and a nice place for your drinks!
Don’t waste money on something that doesn’t work. Buy functional pieces that you will use on a daily basis first. “Functionality can also be fashionable,” said Brown.
He also suggests that you challenge your definition of “functional” when it comes to home decor. Artistic work, for example, can be used if it evokes favorable emotions. Does it calm you down? Does it give you strength?
Maximize natural light in your home. This will brighten up your space and make it look bigger.
How To Decor A Small Studio Apartment On A Budget
If you live in a small apartment, you may feel limited if the space is small. But Laurel suggests using scale to make a small space feel larger.
“Stick to larger fabrics and wall coverings,” she said. It may seem against many, but it makes the space seem larger.

When choosing decor for your apartment try to use light colors. Lighter colors help reflect the natural light that enters your home.
Apartment Decorating Ideas To Turn Your Rental Into A Home
Many of the good decorating ideas on the Internet may not be applicable to an apartment because you need to paint or affect the structure in some way.
For most of your decoration, make ideas that are not part of the physical space. Invest in items you can take with you when you move, such as pillows, bedspreads, artwork, furniture and area rugs.
However, some landlords will allow paint changes if the space is returned to its original condition. You may also be charged for upgrades.
Having multifunctional furniture is the key to small space living. This versatile pi-workstation table from Vurni (@vurnitweets) is great for studying and also adds seating for guests.
Decorating A Studio Apartment
Just because you get a good deal on something doesn’t mean you should buy it. If you stray from the master plan, you will find yourself in the same situation that often happens when buying clothes.
“We buy something just because it’s on sale and then it ends up in the back of our closet because we have nothing to go with it,” Laurel said. “Home decor is subject to the same rules.”
So you say your sin is small? Don’t worry! It’s all about how you fix it. Here is a good diagram to give you some ideas.
With new stuff coming in, it’s time to freshen up and throw away your old junk, ahem, stuff. These sentimental attachments can prevent you from getting the look you want. Here are some ways to divide your things:
